Meet Our Parent Mentor, Erin!
My name is Erin Simmons, and I became a Parent Mentor during the 2022-2023 school year. I am married, and together we have six children, ranging in age from 9 to 23 years old. Each of my children is unique, and our family navigates a variety of challenges daily, including: academic, musical, and artistic giftedness; ADD, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, dyslexia, autism, nonverbal autism, behavioral issues, severe anxiety, panic disorder, depression, complex gastrointestinal issues, gene mutations, and allergies to foods, chemicals, and medications. These challenges have significantly impacted their learning experiences, and I have worked tirelessly to support them. Now, I want to help you learn how to support your own child through a process that can often feel overwhelming and frustrating.
I am passionate about making a difference in Ohio and in our community. I serve on several councils and committees, including the Governor's Early Intervention Advisory Council, the Governor’s Early Childhood Advisory Council, the OhioPROMISE Advisory Council, and the State Leadership Team: Family Engagement Team. I am also involved locally as a member of the Seneca County Family and Children First Council, President of the Seneca County Board of Developmental Disabilities, and as a member of the Seneca Autism Learning Association (SALSA), along with other community councils that assist families in accessing local resources.
